Diwali Crackers: Supreme Court lays down some Guidelines

The festival of lights is the most celebrated festival in India. The foremost thing that comes to anyone’s mind about Diwali is crackers and sweets. While there is no limit set by the supreme court to eat sweets, there are certain regulations curated by Supreme Court to minimize pollution.

Here are the Diwali Cracker rules, given in the judgment:

• On Diwali, people can burst crackers from 8 pm to 10 pm and on the New Year day 11.55 pm to 12.30 pm.
• The awareness campaigns about air pollution is mandatory schools and colleges.
• Crackers are not permitted for sale through the internet.
• The State Pollution Control Board and the Central Pollution Control Regulatory Committee should examine the quality of air for 7 days prior to Deepavali and 7 days later.
• The judgment also states that celebrating the ceremonies as groups will benefit pollution control.
• Only the modern type of crackers capable to produce fewer pollutants, noise and light are allowed for manufacturing.
• 10 immediate steps have been taken by the Central Government to take control of the pollution caused by crackers.
• Prohibition of use of barium salt in crackers.
• Most polluting crackers which are already manufactured are banned from sale.
• Selling Prohibited crackers are not allowed.
• If the terms stated in the verdict are breached, the police officer in charge of the violation will be held liable.

On the auspicious day of Diwali, light Diyas and light the world of your loved ones by sharing gifts and love. Take a pledge to keep water bucket and first aid kit, whenever you burst crackers. Do follow the rules set by the Supreme Court. Eventually, it will benefit our future generations, and the conservation of the environment will happen.
