Making your country’s test debut is an accomplishment in and of itself, but scoring a century is the cherry on top. In Kanpur, Shreyas Iyer made his test debut against New Zealand, and he made an impression. He hit a fantastic century in a difficult scenario. The first Indian to score a century in a test match was Lala Amarnath. In a match against England at the Bombay Gymkhana Ground in 1933, he scored 118 runs. In 1969, the Great Gundappa Vishwanath made his test debut against Australia and struck a century.
Another notable player on the list is Sourav Ganguly, who made a maiden century in the Mecca of cricket. One of the most notable debuts for Dada was against England in 1996. There have been a number of talented players who have accomplished this feat in the contemporary age. Shikhar Dhawan made 187 runs in Mohali against Australia, while Suresh Raina made 120 runs in Colombo.
