Illegal mining case: According to sources, the Election Commission advises that the Jharkhand CM be disqualified as an MLA.

Hemant Soren, the chief minister of Jharkhand, has been recommended for disqualification as an MLA by the Election Commission of India (ECI), according to sources in the Raj Bhavan. In response to a complaint from the opposition BJP that the chief minister must be qualified since he purportedly holds an office-of-profit by obtaining a stone chip mining lease in his name, the EC has written to the Governor of Jharkhand, Ramesh Bais, asking for his opinion.

Legislators from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) have been called and instructed to arrive in Ranchi by sunset. As of right presently, there are no specifics regarding the opinion given to the Governor. According to the sources, the statement was delivered to the Jharkhand Raj Bhavan this morning in a sealed envelope.

Ramesh Bais, the Governor of Jharkhand, who had been on a personal visit to Delhi since Monday, arrived back in Ranchi on Thursday.

According to sources, Hemant Soren violated the office of profit, according to ECI’s conclusions. According to sources, the Jharkhand CM broke section 9A of the 1951 People Representative Act.

During the hearing, which ended on August 18, Hemant Soren and his brother Basant Soren were both heard by ECI. Disqualification has been recommended by the ECI, and the Governor will make the ultimate call.

Hemant Soren’s allocation of a mining lease to himself is the subject of the ECI investigation. His removal as an MLA has been demanded by the BJP due to allegations of corruption.
