The New York Times’ list of places to visit in 2023 includes only one Indian state: Kerala.

People worldwide are making their travel plans for 2023 after ringing in the new year. The New York Times has recommended 52 places to visit this year to assist you in making your decision. Kerala, known as “God’s own country,” has also been included.

Kerala, a state in southern India, is praised in the report for its beaches, backwater lagoons, cuisine, and numerous cultural traditions, including the Vaikathashtami festival.

The small Keralan village of Kumarakom, well-known for its picturesque backwaters, is also mentioned in the report. Visitors can participate in various entertaining activities like climbing a palm tree, canoeing through canals, and weaving ropes out of coconut fiber.

Various flora and fauna can be found in Kumarakom, surrounded by lush green paddy fields, mangrove forests, and the Vembanad Lake. The picturesque village can be explored using canoes, traditional country boats, and other crafts.

Another location in Kerala that has received attention in the report is Maravanthuruthu. It is situated in the Kottayam district, where among other entertaining activities, one can take in traditional temple dance and village street art.
