Nayanjyoti Saikia, the winner of MasterChef India, received a hero’s welcome when he arrived at Dibrugarh Airport on Saturday.
He was taken by car from the airport to his house in Tinsukia, 480 kilometers northeast of the state capital Guwahati.
The videos depict Mr. Saikia receiving a mocha, representing Assamese culture, and being honored with playing traditional dhols and cymbals. Women and young girls dancing while dressed in traditional Assamese garb were observed.
In the 23-week cooking reality show finale, Mr. Saikia defeated Santa Sarma and Suvarna Bagul.
Santa Sarma, the runner-up, is also an Assamese.
The renowned chef Sanjeev Kapoor and chef judges Ranveer Brar, Vikas Khanna, and Garima Arora judged the finale.
“My only goal in life was to compete on MasterChef India, but now I feel like I have achieved all of my objectives. In addition to attending MasterChef, I also received an apron, and winning this challenging culinary competition feels surreal “Mr. Saikia said.
The “signature three-course meal challenge” tested the finalist, and Mr. Saikia emerged victorious.
