Negligence or not but took 23 lives of Puri-Haridwar Utkal Express

The mishap occurred on Saturday evening hours it was duly reported the driver of the train was unaware of track maintenance where the incident took place.

At least 23 to be reported dead and 70 injured when 14 coaches of Puri-Haridwar express derailed in Khataulii around40km from Muzaffarnagar. All view considered and announce regarding maintained failure to be the reason of accident. An official reported staff was engaged in “unofficial” maintenance of the track at the time of the accident which means they did not put up any speed restriction warning such as a red flag or signal warning to alert incoming train source of TOI reported.

It seems that senior officers of the engineering department present on site at the time of accident train were at the speed of 106kmph  and speed limit when the track is maintained must be around 10-15kmp. It should be the driver of the train had not been adequately warned of the situation of the track under maintenance. The other official claim the train engine and five coaches passed the spot safely which would not have been possible at such high speed if the track had been tampered with. However, impact was so high that bogeys climbed onto another but it was also seen that accident took place around 5.27pm almost an hour before Delhi-Saharanpur express passed that very spot at 4.40pm.

Railway minister Suresh Prabhu assured that personally, he will monitor situation he tweeted “have ordered an inquiry into the unfortunate accidents to ascertain the cause. Strict action will be taken against any lapse”.

A team of anti-terror squad was also sent to monitor the situation. UP Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath spoke to the principal secretary and Arvind Kumar and the Muzaffarnagar district magistrate was directed to ensure prompt rescue and relief operations.

Prime Minister Modi tweeted to express his condolences for families of those killed Railway and UP government are doing everything possible and providing assistance required in wake of train derailment.

The Odisha and UP also announced compensation for the victims 3.5lakh those killed, 50,000 for seriously injured, 25,000 for minor injured. Railways also have provided helpline number for updates.
