A humongous amount of as much as rupees 21 crores has been recovered from the residence of Arpita Mukherjee -a close aide of senior Trinamool Congress leader Partha Chatterjee, who is also the current Commerce and Industries Minister in West Bengal. The ED officials have also recovered 20 mobile phones and the cash from the noble residence of Mukherjee at the Diamond City complex in Tollygunge. The ED officials called some bank officials for counting purposes, who arrived at Mukherjee’s residence with their currency counting machines. ED officials said that their residence, Mukherjee, was not on the initial list of 13 places where the agency had been conducting raids since Friday morning. However, Mukherjee’s name was raised during the progression of the raids, following which the ED officials, assisted by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, reached her residence and launched a search and seizure operation.
