Brooklyn: A 23-year-old photographer from Brooklyn on Saturday accused American actor/comedian Aziz Ansari of sexual assaulting her while on a date, with later Aziz Ansari, the Indian American stand-up comedian who was accused of sexual misconduct, clarified that indicating it to be the sexual activity was “completely consensual.” As per statement “In September of last year, I met a woman at a party. We exchanged numbers. We texted back and forth and eventually went on a date. We went out to dinner, and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual,” said Ansari to US Today reported. The women in question, who identified as ‘Grace’ to the publication Babe, said that she decided to speak up after seeing Ansari wearing the ‘Time’s Up’ pin at the 75TH Annual Golden Globe Awards where he won the Best Actor Award – Television Series Musical or Comedy for his show, Master of None. “It was actually painful to watch him win and accept an award,” the accuser was quoted as saying by Babe. “And absolutely cringe-worthy that he was wearing the Time’s up pin. I think that started a new fire, and it kind of made it more real […] I believe that I was taken advantage of by Aziz. I was not listened to and ignored. It was by far the worst experience with a man I’ve ever had,” she added. Grace and Ansari reportedly met at an after-party following the 2017 Emmy Awards. Having enjoyed each other’s company, they decided to go on a date. However, according to Grace, Ansari took her back to his apartment after a quick dinner and tried to forcefully have sex with her despite repeated refusal.
While Ansari said he was surprised next day when he received her message that she felt uncomfortable. “The next day, I got a text from her saying that although “it may have seemed okay,’ upon further reflection, she felt uncomfortable. It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned. I took her words to heart and responded privately after taking the time to process what she had said,” he added. Ansari, who won a Golden Globe recently, was accused of sexual misconduct by a photographer with whom he went on a date last year. According to Babe.net, which first broke the story, the Indian American actor forced himself upon the 22-year-old Brooklyn-based photographer during a New York City date on September 26, 2017.The woman has also shared screenshots of her conversation with the actor after the experience.
