US military commanders believe another terrorist strike is highly “likely to occur in the next 24-36 hours,” President Joe Biden warned on Saturday, such as the fatal suicide bombing of Kabul Airport. After an in-depth briefing by his staff for national security, Biden noted that “not the last” was a US drone strike targeting the Khorasan Islamic State organisation that took charge of bloodshed at the airport on Thursday.
The situation on the ground is extremely perilous and there is still a strong potential of terrorist attacks at the airport. Our commanders advised me that in the next 24-36 hours the strike would be highly likely,” Biden stated.
The United States also warned that the threat near the Kabul Airport was “particular, genuine” and asked its people to quit the region days after a deadly attack on Taliban-led protesters in Afghanistan. During the Kabul explosion Thursday, numerous Afghans civilians and 13 US personnel were killed – several of them native to Afghanistan when U.S. combat activities began 20 years ago.
