Effective January 10, India will begin delivering the third dosage of the Covid vaccine to priority categories of the population. Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that India’s vaccination campaign would be expanded to include children for the first two doses and priority populations for the third dosage.
Teenagers between the ages of 15 and 18 have been receiving vaccines since January 3.
On January 8, registration for the precautionary dose booster dose began on Co-WIN.
Eligibility, price, and all you need to know about the Covid precautionary dose
- The 3rd dose is available to frontline employees and senior adults with co-morbidities.
- Although a doctor’s certificate is not required at the time of the precaution dosage administration, visiting a doctor before receiving the precaution dose is recommended.
- Between the second and third doses, there must be a 9-month break. So, if you received your second dose within the first week of April 2021, you are only eligible for the precautionary dose at this time. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until you’ve had your second dose for 39 weeks.
- If you have Covishield, your third dose will be Covishield as well. Covaxin is the same way. The government does not allow vaccines to be mixed and matched.
- On Co-Win, there is no need to register again. Appointments can be made directly on the website. Other than that, walk-ins are welcome.
- The health ministry recognises voter ID, Aadhaar, passports, and driving licences as valid documents.
- In government hospitals, vaccinations for priority groups are provided free of charge.
