New Delhi: Dia Mirza will new appointed India ambassador for UN environment Goodwill, Actress cum producer who take up role will be brand ambassador for Wildlife Trust of India which will add more weight to her work on raising awareness and seeking solutions for environmental issues that world, and India in particular faces, read a statement on Thursday.
Dia when asked on this new role said “I feel honored and inspired by this opportunity to work with UN Environment to protect the environment and promote sustainable development. Environmental issues will be the defining challenge of this era, and I am committed to helping the UN as a Goodwill Ambassador to do everything I can to provide a better future. Together, we will continue working towards conservation of nature, tackling climate change and inspiring people to live more sustain ably.” As a Goodwill Ambassador, Dia will work with the UN to further spread the message on priority areas including clean air, clean seas, wildlife protection and climate change. Dia is also one of person to work for the noble cause as supporter of environmental conservation; she is committed voice for change and also contributed her efforts in the field of social change conservation and environment while being face of much crucial environment campaign across India and wildlife conservation.
Their also stardom group working UN Environment programs and Dia will joined other such accomplished and dedicated past and present UN Goodwill Ambassadors, include UN Environment’s Li Binging, Gisele Bundchen and Don Cheadle, and others such as Cate Blanchet, Ann Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, Katy Perry and Emma Watson.
While UN head Erik Solheim said to be delighted to have Dia join UN Environment as a Goodwill Ambassador and said about India facing many challenges like air pollution that choking cities and with Dia influence can help to turn the situation around and create a future healthy for Indians and their environment
