Elon Musk acquires Twitter for $44 billion, Users greet new owner in their own style

Elon Musk, a billionaire, has taken ownership of Twitter in one of the biggest tech deals in history. Musk will pay around $44 billion for the social network, with shares valued at $54.20. On April 14, Musk announced his takeover attempt, calling it his ‘best and last offer.’

Marc Andreessen, the venture capitalist and co-author of the first widely used web browser, has been having fun with the memes from the moment the offer was made.

Musk is expected to release the much-anticipated Edit button very shortly. The edit button has previously been confirmed by Twitter, but with Musk in charge, the rollout might be pushed up. Blue users are likely to get the edit button first, followed by everyone else.

Elon is also anticipated to work hard to get rid of spam accounts and spambots on the site. Spambots, he believes, are the “most irritating thing.” He also wants Twitter to become more open-source. Musk recently claimed that Twitter should be more open-source since “there’s no type of behind-the-scenes manipulation, either algorithmically or humanly,” at the TED conference.
