Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, announced that seatbelt use would be required for all passengers in a vehicle.
“Seat belt use will now be required for everyone seated in the vehicle,” the Union Minister declared.
“Today, the government made a significant move for the safety of those riding in the backseat due to Cyrus Mistry’s passing. The back seat must be secured with a seatbelt, “said Nitin Gadkari.
Speaking at a press conference, he remarked, “We have decided that there will be a seatbelt beep system for the rear seats in vehicles because Cyrus Mistry died in a car accident.”
Experts and critics pointed out flaws in the transportation and traffic management system in the wake of the tragic road accident that claimed the life of the former chairman of the Tata Group, Cyrus Mistry. Nitin Gadkari stated on Tuesday that all seatbelts are required for all passengers in a car, despite ongoing speculation regarding the regulations controlling seatbelts for vehicle occupants.
He emphasized that those who broke the regulation or defaulted would be fined.
Cyrus Mistry, the scion of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group and the Tata Group’s chairman between 2012 and 2016, died in a road accident on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway on Sunday. Mistry and three others traveled from Gujarat to Maharashtra when they were involved in an accident in the Palghar district.
Cyrus Mistry and Jahangir Pandole were killed on the spot, while the other two passengers, Anahita Pandole and Darius Pandole, were injured and taken to a hospital.
The police confirmed that Dr. Anahita Pandole was driving the car.
The collision had a significant impact. According to police, the airbags in the front seats were deployed, but the ones in the back seats did not.
