Gujarat election picking up hype with countdown begins over strong politics with even NRI backing poll

Ahmadabad: This year Gujarat election getting does or done fare for political parties at same time attracting NRIs also during election dates. Be it Rahul or Modi or Hardik three major political game changing parties playing the field of Gujarat legislative elections scheduled first round on 9th Dec.

Non-Resident Guajarati’s are descending on their home state to boost BJP’s poll prospects and express their support to fellow Gujarati Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Around 20-25 NRIs are in touch with the Overseas Friends of BJP, an arm of the party that deals with the diaspora, to canvas for the party during Gujarat elections. Most of them are from the US, followed by UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Their number is likely to swell as the campaign picks up. Vijay Chauthaiwale, chief of BJP’s foreign affairs department, told ET that these NRIs will bear their expenses in coming to Gujarat and while campaigning for the party. “We usually guide them on where they should campaign, but most of them wish to work in their home districts as they are familiar with the people and the geography.” Chauthaiwale said there was a lot of enthusiasm among Gujarati NRIs during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections when they came in droves to campaign for their CM who was set to become the prime minister. Most of the NRIs are keeping an eye on the state’s political developments through What Sapp groups managed by their friends and family back home. It came as a surprise to some BJP members when they received videos and other publicity material through social media from their relative’s abroadnews as per economic times.

However Modi has large fan following group where some also defend and stand up for BJP as like Babu Bhai Lal Patel was in his early thirties when he left his village in south Gujarat’s Bharuch and went to the United States for higher studies. A course in nuclear medicine technology did not stop his business instincts, intrinsic to his Patel community. Mr. Patel, now 77, owns a radio station and is also into the hotel business in the US where he is settled. This year, he and 150-odd NRIs from Gujarat are visiting their hometowns to campaign for BJP  ahead of next month’s election, The BJP has also sought help from those NRIs who’re unable to travel to Gujarat to campaign. These overseas Indians are holding conferences with voters through Google Hangouts.

There are very acceptable facts for each party to consider its backdrop like

Congress facing three big problems as to Gujarat election first and most pointed BJP’s development agenda as against it rival has launched a social media campaign to attack ruling party’s claims. Gujarati has tag”Vikas gando thayoche’ (development seem crazy mad), which has much caught attention of among public who are BJP’s opponent. Second stake with claim on vote Cutters Vaghela, Kejriwal and Pawar progress with Kejriwal started campaigning from 2nd Oct.  The possibility of Shard Pawar led NCP has claimed contest about 70 seats in upcoming election in the state which won have contest last time it fought on 10seats won three that what can be major set- back for congress in vote cutting. However BJP has main angry Patel’s dilemma to sought out with which will be important factor in this time election, then a Twist in the KHAM (Kshatriya, Harijan, Adivasi and Muslim) politics where this time around the congress seems to be back with its tried and tested formula with Patel strong base and groundnut bowl of the country trying to capitalize on farmer distress, has further added to BJP’s concern. Also important the D factor which Anandiben Patel’s resignation came just a day after a large protest by Dalit’s in Ahmedabad. Shankar Singh can be benefit also as Rajput votes from the congress and help BJP, while Hardik Patel strong with his speeches and tweet currently though inexperienced young lad but holding Patidar with as reservation issue certainly can cut off vote bank. however there will also be consideration as to OBC dilemma, representative Alpesh Thakor which so far have proved politically smart so far in both BJP and Congress for his plank –anti –liquor-agenda-  which threw him up as a powerful OBC leader.
