In retaliation for the Kabul airport attack, a US airstrike hits and kills an IS member

According to the military, the US launched a drone strike in Kabul on Saturday against an Islamic State member suspected of preparing strikes against the US. The strike took place in Nangahar province, east of Kabul, according to the US Central Command.

On Thursday, US President Joe Biden vowed to find the culprits of the Kabul airport attack and claimed he has directed the Pentagon to devise preparations to target them. “We’re not going to forgive, and we’re not going to forget. We’ll track you down and hold you accountable “Biden stated.

President Biden observed a minute of quiet and expressed his sympathies to the families of US service members killed in the Kabul bombing, describing the victims as “heroes” and “the finest the country has to offer.”The US and its allies had set a deadline of August 31 for completing evacuations from the war-torn country.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon stated that the US retains complete control of the Kabul airport’s military side. It further stated that the Taliban had no control over flying operations.
