India and the US agree to strengthen their defense and technology ties.

India and the US have decided to further their collaboration in areas such as defense, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, high-performance computing, a joint production of jet engines, semiconductor supply chain, human spaceflight, commercial space launches, and telecom, including 6G, in what is seen as the new frontier for cooperation with a focus on China.

These were the main conclusions reached following the two-day Washington, DC, meeting between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and US NSA Jake Sullivan.

The first meeting of the US-India initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) was decided between US President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May 2022 on the sidelines of the Quad meeting in Tokyo, which brought together the two NSAs.
