India’s spinners wasted no time in dismissing New Zealand’s last hitters in the second test at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, thrashing the tourists by a record 372 runs and clinching the series 1-0.
It was India’s largest margin of victory in a home match, surpassing their 337-run triumph over South Africa in a Delhi test in 2015.
On the fourth morning, spin-bowling all-rounder Jayant Yadav wreaked havoc on New Zealand’s middle and lower order, raking up 4-49.
New Zealand was all out for 167 in their second innings, chasing 540 for victory, and Ravichandran Ashwin grabbed the final wicket to complete with 4-34.
