Indian pacer Jaspreet Bumrah helped India with three wickets on 53 runs in the second innings. In the match, he took nine wickets with 86 runs in total. In the debut season, Bumrahah totally has 48 wickets, which is the best performance of any fast bowler in the first Test season. Bumrah, Mohammad Shami (two wickets for 71 runs) and Ishant Sharma (two wickets for 40 runs) played their parts well by adding wickets to the kitty. The fast bowling trio of Bumrah, Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami (Mohammed Shami) have played an important role in India’s victory overseas in the last year. Together, these three people took 134 wickets (Bumrah, 48, Ishant 40 and Shami 46) on foreign soil in one calendar year.
This trio broke the 34-year-old record of West Indian trio of Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding, and Joel Garner, who took 130 wickets on foreign tours in 1984. Kohli praised the fast bowlers after making a 2-1 lead in the four-match series in India. He said, “These three fast bowlers in India have broken the record for the most wickets by fast bowlers for a team in a calendar year which is fantastic. When I captain in partnership, I certainly feel proud.”
Bumrah, who has been performing consistently well since South Africa’s debut this year, hopes that the better things are waiting for him in the near future. He said, “Test cricket is always dreaming and when I made my debut in South Africa I was very happy. I started learning slowly, there was a different experience in England. Playing in Australia is also a different experience. The beginning is good and hopes that things will continue to be better.
On the last day of the Melbourne Test, the morning session was raining, but Kohli said that he was not troubled by the things he was about not giving a call to Australia. He said, ‘It is a good thing that I have no reaction or viewpoint. What matters is that we decided in the dressing room as a team. It was clear that we wanted to bat on the pitch in the third innings and wanted to raise some more runs because the pitch would have been bad after that. ”
