Jio 5G Service Launched in India, with a 1Gbps Welcome Offer.

Reliance Jio has announced the launch of its True 5G service in India, which will begin on October 5 in four cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Varanasi. Existing Jio customers will be invited to participate in the beta trial of Jio’s True 5G service. Customers who participate in the Jio True 5G beta experiment will receive data rates of up to 1Gbps.

Users who are asked to participate in the Jio 5G Welcome Offer will be automatically upgraded to the Jio True 5G service, and they will not require a new SIM card to access 5G services on their 5G-enabled smartphone. Jio has already begun working with phone manufacturers to allow Jio 5G on their devices.

“Jio has devised the most ambitious and rapid 5G roll-out plan for a country our size.” 5G cannot remain an exclusive service available only to the wealthy or those living in our major cities. “It must be available to every citizen, every home, and every company in India,” stated Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited Chairman Akash Ambani.

As the network is ready for deployment, Jio will expand the 5G beta trial service to more cities. Users will be able to participate in the beta testing until the network coverage in a city is complete.

Jio believes that its 5G service will have a three-fold advantage over its competitors in terms of user acquisition. To begin, the Jio network is constructed on a stand-alone architecture, which means it has no reliance on the 4G network. This technology will enable Jio 5G to provide a low-latency network, 5G speech functionality, and network slicing.
