‘Let us defeat terrorism globally,’ says Prime Minister Modi at the Interpol General Assembly.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 90th Interpol general assembly on Tuesday at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, which was attended by delegations from 195 member countries comprised of ministers, country police chiefs, heads of national central bureaus, and senior police officers.

“It’s time to look ahead as well as back. “Our Vedas say that noble thoughts should come from all directions, and India believes in global cooperation,” Modi said at the opening of the Interpol general assembly.

The general assembly will be held in New Delhi from October 18 to 21.

“Interpol is approaching a watershed moment. It will be 100 years old in 2023. This is a rallying cry for global cooperation to improve the world. “India is a major contributor to UN peacekeeping operations,” Modi said.

“When nations and societies turn inward, India calls for greater global cooperation… When threats are global, there can be no local response. “It is past time for the entire world to band together to combat these threats,” Modi said.

“There is a need to develop global strategies to defeat terrorism,” Modi added.

Modi stated that by speeding up the process of issuing red notices against fugitives, Interpol could help control the proceeds of crimes generated through organized crime and corruption from being misused.

Modi also issued commemorative postal stamps and commemorative coins in denominations of 100 rupees.

Delegations from 195 Interpol member countries will attend the meeting, including ministers, country police chiefs, heads of national central bureaus, and senior police officers.
