Making history at upcoming 95th Academy Awards

Mega Power Star Ramcharan discussed how Indian cinema is now being recognized by the west after 85 years after its inception when he appeared on GMA. He claimed that it is not just RRR but Indian cinema and technicians who are being honored.

At the 95th Academy Awards, the fictional pre-Independence epic by SS Rajamouli made history. The Telugu hit movie received a nomination for Best Song. On Tuesday, Allison Williams and Riz Ahmed of Beverly Hills, California, announced the nominees.

RRR previously took home two Critics’ Choice Awards: Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song for its song Naatu Naatu. Before that, RRR brought honor to India by winning the Golden Globe for the Best Original Score for Naatu Naatu.

The fictional pre-independence tale RRR follows two real-life Indian revolutionaries in the 1920s: Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR). Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt made cameo appearances in the movie as well. RRR was nominated for a Golden Globe for “best picture—non-English,” but Argentina’s historical drama Argentina 1985 won the award.
