A 23-year-old youth was murdered at a garment store in the Surathkal region of Dakshina Kannada district in the state of Karnataka on Thursday night by a group of four men with their faces covered in masks, and the murder was caught on CCTV cameras outside, and inside the store, police reported.
Following the murder, the police set strict orders that are under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code in Surathkal, Mulky, Panambur, and Bajpe for two days until Saturday morning.
The victim has been identified by the police as Fazil, age 23, a local businessman, and he was originally attacked outside the Bee Jay’s clothing store while he was conversing with a friend.
The gang, which caused the murder came in a white car, allegedly hunted Fazil with machetes on the street outside the textile shop, and later tracked and captured him when he tried to run inside the shop to take shelter against the attackers.
He was murdered even as store employees tried to throw items from a distance at the attackers to stop the attack, police reported. The gang attacked Fazil even after he collapsed.
The intention behind the murder is not yet comprehended but is supposed to be indirectly related to the murder of the BJP youth worker, which occurred in the Sullia region of the district on the evening of July 26 in which the youth was hacked to death by two bike riders.
