New Jersey backed up with Indian American Vin Gopal Elected as senate while Hoboken open arms for Sikh mayor for the first time.

New Jersey: Hoboken’s opened arms by selecting the Sikh Mayor making it an eventful day on Tuesday night even it was announced Ravi (Ravinder) Bhalla an Indian American who topped other five candidates. Along with that Vin Gopal elected as state senate has become the first Indian- American elected to the New Jersey seat. Victorious win on both hands, as Hoboken being important metro in the State.

As Ravi (Ravinder) Bhalla has been on city council for more than seven years, as city councilman succeed Dawn Zimmer has decided not to run for re-election in June, endorsing Bhalla and Indian American born in New Jersey. He also being councilman at large for the city of Hoboken, as was born and raised in New Jersey. The ad in form of flyer were just came two day after anti-Indian and anti-Chinese campaign mailer were mailed to residents in Edison , It being New Jersey’s fifth-largest municipality where nearly half the population is Asian- American. The Bhalla’s race took ugly turn with this last week flyer incident attacking him with message “don’t let Terrorism take over our town” was written above his photo. But Bhalla retained confidence said on FB “We won’t let hate win in Hoboken” and with victory in pocket Bhalla again took to FB “Thank you Hoboken I look forward to being your Mayor”.

Vin Gopal is former Monmouth county Democratic Chairman with firm hold from party there defeated longtime state Sen. Jennifer Beck in the State’s 11th legislative district. As per unofficial results from county clerk’s office said Gopal defeated Beck by 28,750 votes to 25,108 votes. On Tuesday night Beck, 11-legislative district capitulated to Gopal dealing blow to Republicans in upper house as of the New Jersey Legislature however race was said to be one of the most expensive and closely watched in the state. On victorious event Gopal promised that he won’t let Monmouth County Down. As being known around Gopal had strong backing from county born in Neptune Township and raised in Freehold is small businessman owner and Monmouth county resident and Chaired the chambers of commerce Government affairs committee.

The New Jersey Sierra Club called Gopal’s win a “victory for the environment, he will fight to deal with climate change and support New Jersey getting back into the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative,” Jeff Tittel, director of the Sierra Club, said in a statement. “It is really time for a change in the 11th district and VIN will bring that change.”
