Penalties for violating traffic rules form today

Sunday onwards traffic policemen can fine you or charge up to Rs 5000 if you disobey traffic rules or violate traffic rules. Violation of traffic rules includes using mobile phone during a ride, wrong overtaking on busy roads or jumping a traffic light. You can also be put in jail.
From 1st September 2019, all the penal provisions get applicable (Motor vehicle Act). This decision has been taken because talking over the phone while driving or jumping the traffic lights may lead to accidents. This leads to loss in life and property.

Penalties for driving a car when someone is drunk, is not wearing protection (helmet) or has not secured himself with a seat belt have increased. The traffic policies or personal of the transport department if are caught contravening the rules of traffic then they will be imposed 200% fine. Higher finance will be charged to them who repeat their faults.

Different people argued on this topic from a different point of view. Harman Sidhu the road safety activist was the person who campaigned against all the liquor shops present on national highways. He argued that in place of imposing fines on people the government must take the initiative to find the actual cause of the accidents and try to fix it.
