Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized Rahul Gandhi of the Congress today for his comments on Indian democracy, which he claimed were an attack on the people of Karnataka, India, and God. During his visit to Karnataka, Prime Minister Modi said, “It is unfortunate that from the soil of London, questions are being raised about Indian democracy. “Bhagwan Basaveshwara, the people of Karnataka, and the people of India are all derided by these individuals. Karnataka must avoid such individuals. “In the state, where assembly elections are scheduled for later this year, he added in his address.
“This democratic system is studied everywhere in the world. Along with being the largest democracy, India is also the mother of democracy, according to a number of other factors. No force has the power to undermine Indian democracy. Nevertheless, some people continue to make attempts to undermine Indian democracy “said he.
The latest point of contention between the Congress and the BJP is Mr. Gandhi’s remarks at his alma mater, Cambridge University, in which he claimed that the Indian democracy was under attack and that several politicians, including himself, were being watched. The BJP has charged him with “defaming” the nation abroad following numerous electoral losses.
In retaliation, Mr. Gandhi claims that the Prime Minister is the one who has tarnished the nation’s accomplishments since Independence.
“I recall the Prime Minister going abroad and announcing that nothing has been done in the 60 or 70 years of Independence,” Mr. Gandhi told reporters at an event organized by the Indian Journalists’ Association last week.
