One of the recent controversial inter-country dealings is the Rafale Fighter Jet deal between India and France. Ever since the announcement about the partnership between Dassault Aviation & Reliance Group – A company with “no aeronautical experience” was made, everything about the whole deal began to look fishy. Many allege that PM Narendra Modi has used his power to favour Reliance to save the struggling Bussiness.
Without any proofs, the allegations are just that. But now with the new documents coming to light, it just stirred up the controversy. A document dated May 11, 2017, from the Dassault Aviation company was obtained after an investigation undertook by the French News Company – Mediapart. According to this report from a Senior Official of Dassault indeed made it clear to the staff members that ‘The joint venture between the French company and Reliance was obligatory and imperative. And the French company was given no choice but to accept the trade-off in order to hold on to the deal’.
Following the events including the statement from the Ex-French president asserting that the French company was forced to work with The Indian Giant owing to the pressure from New Delhi, the many accusations made by the Indian Political parties & the stakeholders and the symbolic inauguration of the so-called modern factory in Nagpur for the joint-venture, which turned out to be a pre-cut warehouse-like building; have wreaked havoc on the Indian Government’s efforts to quiet the controversy. Indian Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s three-day visit to France in the middle of this chaos has just escalated the situation.
While the Indian Government strongly opposes the allegations and states that it was fully Dassault’s choice for choosing Reliance as a Partner, the document proves otherwise. Will the political turmoil calm down? Well, the unfolding incidents have to say.
