Rafale Deal: Here’s all you should Know
On his first tour to France in 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had signed a key deal in the history of India. The 7.87 billion euro deal was the manufacturing France’s Rafale Fighter jets in India as a part of Make in India initiative. The key pointers of the deal were, the fighter jet will be manufactured by the France company Dassault Aviation in India in association with an Indian company to aid the labour and other factors of locally manufacturing the jets in India.
The company that is going to aid in this jet manufacture was disclosed to be Reliance Industries – a company with very little knowledge in the aviation department. The alliance has led to a lot of allegations by the opposition party about the ties between the Prime Minister and some “Business Tycoons”.
The latest comment by the Ex-French President stating that France did not choose to have the partnership with Reliance and that it was pressured by New Delhi has added more fuel to the fire of confusion. This created a lot of allegations on the ruling government of corruption in the Rafale Deal.
The current government struck back that, this deal has been agreed upon a price 9% lesser than the deal the previous government had inked before and there has not been any influence on the French company to choose Reliance as the partner company.
