Rahul Gandhi’s Letter to the PM Includes “Message” from Kashmiri Pandits

In light of recent targeted killings by terrorists, Congressman Rahul Gandhi wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting protection for Kashmiri Pandits who work in the Kashmir valley.

During the most recent Bharat Jodo Yatra, when it entered Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Gandhi claimed to have met a delegation of Kashmiri Pandits.

According to the Congress leader, the delegation complained that Jammu region authorities were pressuring Kashmiri Pandit workers who had left the valley after terrorist attacks to return and resume their jobs.

“They (the Kashmiri Pandit delegation) claimed that they had been coerced into working in the Kashmir valley by government officials. It is cruel to send them back to Kashmir Valley when the safety and security situation is obviously unstable “Gandhi wrote a letter to PM Modi in Hindi.

The Congress MP said, “The government can use these Kashmiri Pandit employees in other administrative and public facilities until the situation improves.”

Bharat Jodo Yatra, or the march to “unite India,” was organized by the Congress and ended in Jammu and Kashmir last week, after beginning in Kanyakumari at the southernmost point of India.

Since being chosen as part of the 2010 Prime Minister’s Special employment program, more than 5,000 Kashmiri Pandits have found employment in the Kashmir valley.

Giving 6,000 young Kashmiri Pandits jobs and building housing are the two main parts of the package.

But after terrorists carried out targeted killings, many people left Kashmir Valley out of fear for their safety.
