As Rupani Sworns for Gujarat while Thakur takes for Himachal Pradesh with BJP wining to states

Shimla, HP: The five-time BJP MLA Jairam Thakur was on Wednesday sworn in as the new CM of Himachal Pradesh along with 11 other members, took oath in presence of Governor Acharya Dev Vrat administered, there was also presence of the PM Modi, BJP President Amit Shah and large number of senior party leaders, Union Cabinet ministers including L.K.Advani, Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari, CM of many other BJP-ruled states were there. A large gathering of people had started since morning from Mandi, the home district of Thakur on the historic Ridge ground while supporters of new ministers had also lodged themselves at the venue in large numbers.

Thakur is new CM of Himachal Pradesh (HP) as he was elected leader of BJP legislature party on Sunday. While it was talk at a meeting of BJP MLAs, it was proposed name by Suresh Bharadwaj and Mahender Singh and seconded by other members, as Prem Kumar Dhumal opted out of the race on Saturday itself. Thakur will be the first chief minister from Mandi, considered electorally significant because of the high number of seats in the region. Himachal’s chief ministers and political leaders mostly belong to or hailed from Shimla, Kangra and Sirmour. Mandi has 10 Assembly seats, second only to Kangra’s 15. The BJP won nine of the 10 seats in Mandi.

A lack of consensus among the newly elected MLAs had resulted in the two central observers – Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Narendra Singh Tomar – returning to Delhi from Shimla on Saturday to hold fresh consultation with the central leadership.

Gujarat: In every way a high profile function was seen in Gujarat over oath ceremony of CM Vijay Rupani. Vijay Rupani was on Tuesday took oath in as the 16thCM of Gujarat  along with 19 ministers, including Nitin Patel, Deputy CM after the BJP’s victory in the recent Assembly elections.

As it was ruling party who won sixth consecutive time though with reduced tally of seats this time around, as portfolios of the new Ministers were likely to be allotted on Wednesday before the first Cabinet meetings. However there were 20-member Council of ministers administered the oath of secrecy and office in a grand function in the presence of top leaders which included PM Modi, BJP patriarch L.k.Advani, party president Amit Shah, top Union Ministers and CM from BJP and NDA ruled states like same as in Himachal Pradesh.

One carefully crafted combination of Patidars, tribal and OBC faces were balanced from both young and old ages, as this oath ceremony landed in laps of state capital Gandhinagar. While the party has chosen status quo by retaining Vijay Rupani as Chief Minister and Nitin Patel as his deputy, 11 minister of the previous cabinet also find a place in the new one, while 9 ministers are new. There are seven ministers from Saurashtra, the area where the BJP lost most seats. Six ministers in the 20-member cabinet are Patel’s or Paatidars, including Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, as the BJP moves to consolidate the support once more of the influential community, 14 per cent of Gujarat’s voters and recently upset with the ruling party over their demand for reservation in government jobs and colleges not being met. Another six belong to backward castes or OBCs, also a key group which the Congress attempted to aggressively woo in the assembly elections as per NDTV news.

However the BJP is already in high mode for the 2019 general elections, when PM Modi will seek a second term, as it hopes to win all the state’s 26 seats like it did in 2014 recalibrating its strategy after its winning margin was in this month assembly elections news as per PTI.
