Crisis-stricken clouds are visible on every side of Pakistan facing economic hardship. America calls the aid by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Pakistan – ‘Pakistan’s economic dosage’ as the biggest helper of Pakistan. After the announcement of President Donald Trump, the US has banned the $ 1.66 billion aid given to Pakistan for security assistance.
The US has raised this decision in view of Pakistan’s “help” approach. In reply to questions sent by e-mail on Tuesday, US Defense Ministry spokesman Colonel Rob Manning said, “Security assistance of $ 1.66 billion given to Pakistan has been stopped.”
Trump Tightening of IMF
Before the US decision, the IMF also shocked Pakistan. The IMF has laid down some strict conditions to provide the relief package to Pakistan. Explaining that this relief package is very important to bring the economy back to Pakistan. The IMF has also sought full information from Pakistan about a financial cooperation agreement with China. While both Pakistan and China are not disclosing the amount of this agreement.
Donald Trump had given these statements
President Donald Trump had defended his administration’s decision to stop the military aid of millions of dollars given to Pakistan. He criticised Pak Gov for not taking enough steps to stop terrorism in his tweets on Sunday. Trump also reprimanded Islamabad for giving al-Qaeda leader bin Laden a “Safe-haven” in Abbottabad.
Trump said that the US is giving billions of dollars every year to Pakistan. While the Pak is giving a home for the most wanted terrorist Bin Laden – where he was shot dead. He added that the IMF stopped giving financial support because they (Pakistan) do nothing for them.
Pakistan’s New PM – Imran Khan struck back with his Anti-rhetoric comment saying “Instead of making Pakistan a scapegoat for their failures, the US should do a serious assessment of why, despite 140,000 Nato troops plus 250,000 Afghan troops and reportedly $1 trillion spent on war in Afghanistan, the Taliban today are stronger than before.”
While it is unnecessary to turn back and look at the pages of History, the latest happenings show that the bilateral ties between the two countries are at the lowest point over the years.
