Sharad Thakkar and Karan Arora were limelight in Oval office of the White House among other seven present small business owners on Tuesday.
Washington: President Donald Trump has felicitated Sharad Thakkar and Karan Arora, two Indian-American businessmen in recognition of their small yet significant contribution towards US economy.
Thakker is said to be the President of Polymer Technologies which is also firm who received Minority Energy Firm of the year, based in Ohio. Polymer technologies work in plastic industry individuals to transform their throwaway scrap plastic into valuable raw material and has proven track record of providing long-term solution in automotive, home care, lawn care product lines.
While Arora is a director of Florida based family-owned Natural Vitamin Labs (NVL), which is also received Minority Export Firm of the Year award. With 25 years of experience in supplying natural health products to industry partners world-wide operating from 95,000-sp ft. facility in Miami, Florida. The facility of manufacturing practices system with fully automated packaging machinery that allows precision and error minimization, output of high speed production. A night earlier received their respective awards, Thakkar and Arora from the Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross at an event in Detroit. Both had come to the US as student for studies and earned the pathway to citizenship through H-1B and Green Card.
Arora appreciates Trump’s policies says with America’s manufacturing base, with simplification of tax code which was great boon for small family-owned businesses. He said “there is big demand (globally) for US- made products, which have more value anywhere in the world”. He had moved to US 2000 for undergraduate studies from Mumbai. Thakker said “Indian-Americans are making great contributions to the US economy” originally from Baroda came 30years ago added” I am very proud that this country gave this opportunity”.
Along with other awardees inside the powerful Oval office Trump ‘congratulated all of us’ and said he is proud of minority businesses and their contribution in creating jobs in the country. In his remark Trump said that his Administration is deeply committed to empowering minority business owners, are working to lift government barriers so that you can thrive prosper and grow. Ross said according to reports nationwide there are 996,246 minority-owned firms with paid employees last year, up 4.9 per% from prior year and these minority-owned businesses produced USD 1.1 trillion of annual revenue.
