Mumbai: The video stream giant Amazon has set to release political satire series “The Ministry” which will be worldwide on Amazon prime video. Irrfan khan is set star in this series, as Irrfan all popular recognized names in Hollywood too will play a wash-up narcissistic Bollywood actor who is unwittingly appointed as temporary culture minister and battles various odds to “be loved by the masses once again”.
The Ministry series is created by Gursimran Khamba is one of the founding member known Indian comedy collective of AIB (All India Bakchod) and will be co-produced by entertainment company Only Much Louder, which earlier inked with Amazon Prime Video to produce 14 stand-up Indian comedy special and an unscripted original series, Comicstan. The actor is no new to this field as has collaborated with AIB earlier on some comedy projects, such as spoof music video” Bollywood Party Song”. As Gursimran said” Irrfan told us that he wanted to be part of this show when he first heard about it. But because of certain complication, it didn’t work out. Then one night I met him at a party where he took me aside, stared into my eyes and said ‘I want this’. And we all know how hard it is to resist Irrfan’s eyes.
Irrfan got much popularity in with both Hollywood and Bollywood with Life of PI, Jurassic world. Irrfan said in a statement” I am looking forward to this great collaboration with Amazon and AIB both have content that makes me very excited to work with them. It will be great experience to be working on this show which will be very topical and funny and will release globally on Amazon Prime Video.
Irrfan will next be seen on 10th November release in Tanuja Chandra’s ‘Qarib Qarib Single’. Last year was as productive and as busy for Irrfan in Hollywood with two major titles ’The Jungle book’ and the Tom Hanks starrer ‘Inferno’. One of the recent credits includes art house title “the Song of Scorpions which co-starred with Iranian actress GolshiftehFarahani.
